Loud Tate at Tate Britain

Loud Tate is on this Saturday the 21st as part of the Tate Youth Forum I am going to be helping out at some of the workshops , we have some great music and artistic collaborations I cant wait . I did some flyering for it today at a flying lotus event at the Tate Modern where flying Lotus provided the live soundtrack to a Harry Smith animation Heaven an Magic , it was really amazing .

I am currently on a internship at the Old Sweet Shop Gallery in South Fields. We are having a illustration exhibtion called Robots .I looked at what robots might do in their spare time and made a little robot circus. I have helped select all the illustrators and all the illustrations are really fun it should be a great exhibition.

I have been thinking of ideas of how to create a illustrative documentation of my year out he places ive been and the things i have learnt about the industry and myself. This is a idea that i have screen printed . I have a bit hooked on making lists and they really help me organise my self and I felt a mind map could be a interesting way of showing the time frame as well as the processes i have been on and how they link tot he things i have learnt.

I have been working on a self initiated project looking at child soldiers around the world and the unsettling reality they face of being a child exposed to war and extreme violence . This work is still in progress and I have been working on several illustrative ways of communicating the lost innocence. I realized that something that communicated this well is the child's hand holding the guns that they often are given to use ,the image of such a small hand holding such a big machine I hope is the starting point for a series of interesting illustrations that will provoke new though ona issue that does not get enough light in western society.

Here are some collages i created while thinking about a story in the paper about a boat which sank with illegal immigrants on it off Italy. Body's being washed up to shore is a normality showing the true desperation of people wanting to start a new life. I am hoping this is a starting point as i feel making collages useful in helping me think about a issue. I have done 3 representing the dream of a new life ,the journey and the way the journey often ends with many people washed up on the shore dead.

I am currently doing the young design programe ,http://www.thesorrellfoundation.com/, what they do is really valuable and it is great to see first hand young adults getting really excited about design. My group has 3 interior designers a graphics student and me. I have been mainly been doing illustrations that will accompany the exterior of the social spaces we have designed.I did them on illustrator and they aim at communicating a green area in a playfully illustrative way as the clients wanted a feeling of trees and plants without actually having any. During January I had the pleasure of spending time with why not associates. I learnt a lot about the processes that go into starting a new brief for a company an the build up to a pitch. This is a bit of a late post but I went to the Plus+ International Design festival in Birmingham www.youplusus.net with Lucy Brown from Grey Cain who very kindly gave me a lift from London as she was driving , thanks Lucy! It had some nice stuff and was a fun experience as I took part in Lucys workshop to do with autism - http://www.greycaine.com/folio/visualthought.html . One exhibitor was particularly interesting this was a guy who does engraving on tombstones his work was very beautiful and he seemed to really have a great passion for typography he recommend a book about engraving with examples of british tombstone engravings which were really beautiful and with remarkably forward thinking use of type to communicate the sense of loss and meaning within each stone .Unfortunately I wrote the name of it in my phone which I promptly lost the next day in a ball pool but am going to look for the book a and hopefully will find it .

This is a random piece of letter press experimentation I did a while back and I just found the picture i took of if and on reflection I think it it something I could continue to work on. It was based on experimental type looking at braille and the use of the circle within type and reading written word.

I am currently in Paris working for the design studio Akroe much thanks to Etienne Bardelli for taking me on and Juliette Villard (Thejudge) ...... ( very jealous by the way Juliette its a sick name) They are both being so cool and singing me lots of French and Swiss ! songs whether I like it or not!!. W e have a christmas tree which has made my week.

I really like the art of this artist . I saw his work at the Palais de tokyo .I found it very profound and quite dark.The photos of the members of the Mickey Mouse club, for example, were taken by the artist from a 1955 issue of Mickey magazine. In these installations of real or false memories, arranged in a monumental scale and made with cheap materials or presented under weak lighting, the anonymous photographic archive takes on the appearance of a memorial. In this way contemporary art returns to the ancestral link between image and death.

I began to work as an artist when I began to be an adult, when I understood that my childhood was finished, and was dead. I think we all have somebody who is dead inside of us. A dead child. I remember the Little Christian that is dead inside me.

19 princelet street E1 exhibtion

i recently went to a exhibtion at 19 princelet street www.princeletstreet.org.uk which was a interesting exhibtion celebrating divercity. The exhibtion was very interesting particually because it was made by local E1 schoolchildren exploring the history of the immigrant population in east london . I would recommend ppl to go wen u can especially since as the building is so old it is only open 15times a year !!!

I found aout about mandela art on a art therapy blog and it really intersts me i am hoping to explore it with my work
The “circle with a center” pattern is the basic structure of creation that is reflected from the micro to the macro in the world as we know it. It is a pattern found in nature and is seen in biology, geology, chemistry, physics and astronomy.

I really love Lee scratch perry and when i found this special set of 3 LPs i was pretty excited. But to be honest the reason i really love it is because of the cover illustration !!!! I am still trying to find out who did it so if anyone knows anything about who lee perry had to do some of his album covers please let me know!!
